COMMERCIALIZATION

Mentored project for improving the commercialization of wild mushrooms from Aragón:

The fresh commercialization of wild mushrooms with guarantees of quality, traceability, and origin is essential to ensure the supply of local products to restaurants and small processing industries. Unfortunately, in Aragón, despite having over 2.2 million hectares of productive land, this commercial potential is not being fully utilized as it is in other autonomous communities in Spain.

The goal of supporting a local marketer from Teruel interested in innovation is to leverage the promotion of the Aragón Mycological Parks network and its collaborators’ committee (restaurants, experts, users, etc.) to improve the efficiency of mushroom collection, cleaning, transportation, and purchase from local harvesters. This will enable the creation of products tailored to the demands of restaurants and users (greater diversity of local edible species, improved collection and selection methods in the forest, preparation of boxes, and the use of sustainable and attractive packaging, etc.). To achieve this, the project will take advantage of improved training for harvesters, intermediaries, and consumers, as well as the mycotourism promotion carried out by MicoAragón.

Compensation Action:

Since the sale of wild products is directly linked to forest production, which varies by season, the number of products sold may be affected by resource availability. As compensation, a dissemination event will be held where the contracted entrepreneur will act as a presenter, along with a report on product exposure to consumers and a report on the conclusions drawn from consumer surveys. Finally, the results will be showcased at the final results presentation event.
